Dear friends: We are looking forward to the pessach-holidays next week.
About our privat life After my trip to Israel last September, we decided that it was time for me to return to Colombia, where I was raised and lived until my 16th birthday. My classmates had arranged a meeting after 40 years and besides of that I wanted to join my mother in law and the rest of the family from my first marriage and so I did. It was a wonderful trip, the climate was sensational and I enjoyed it very much.
Next month I will return for 4 days to Eretz Israel. Aaron stays at home to take care of the house and our cats and the dog.
A very personal topic Since almost all of my relatives were murdered in the Shoah and I grew up without grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins, and even though I do have a very happy life with my husband Aaron, I received from him as a very special birthday gift this year: A DNA-Test to find possible relatives of my family. My data has already arrived in the US and we shall get the first results by the beginning of May. We are very excited and looking forward to perhaps find a bit more of my family story that was destroyed in this dark chapter of German history and we will see what and whom we find...

Zerstörte Vielfalt - Diversity destroyed Berlin enjoys a global reputation as a modern, tolerant and culturally diverse metropolis. Presented under the title “Diversity Destroyed”, the 2013 Berlin Theme Year seeks to communicate the importance and sensitive nature of these democratic values and achievements. The Theme Year will highlight the social and cultural diversity that was destroyed in Berlin under the Nazi regime in the years following 1933. The eightieth anniversary of the Nazi regime’s accession to power on 30 January 1933 and the seventy-fifth anniversary of the November Pogroms are the cornerstones in a year of commemoration, remembrance and active engagement with the past. Stumbling Stones / Stolpersteine in Salzburger Strasse 8 in the former Jewish middle-class neighbourhood A couple in their mid-thirties commited suicide and with them they took their three little girls (age 1, 4 and 11) into death. Now it was their Jahrzeit and the neighbours lit candles and brought flowers for the family who put an end to their lifes in such a tragic way. The inhabitants of the building had collected and stored money to commemorate all 10 Jews who once lived in the building.
Last but not least
Shalom and Chag Pessach Sameach
We hope to see you soon in our beautiful city!
