Dear friends, almost at the end of the season 2017 and close to the holidayseason we want to thank all of you for a successfull year! In this newsletter we want to direct your attention to the main events we expect in 2018 which enables you to plan your Berlin (and Potsdam) journey in a senseful way.
Our plans for 2018 As usual, in mid 2018 we plan to replace our van after 4 years. Our next van will be again a luxury Mercedes V-Class van with two benches for a total of 6 passengers plus the 2 of us. Mercedes-standard-seating, comfortable for each passenger.
Special hint for December At Komische Oper, Barry Kosky, the jewish artistic director and chief stage director, shows a modern and wonderful interpretation of Anatevka - Fiddler on the Roof! If you are here while it's shown, don't miss it!
Berlin's foto-gallery-scene At the Museum The Kennedys until March 4, 2018 you can visit a great exhibition of Pete Souza's fotos: "Obama: An intimate portrait". We also recommend visiting the Helmut Newton Foundation - Museum of Photografy, Gallery Camerawork/CWC and which are all in walking distance in West-Berlin city-center.
Streetart-Museum One of the most exciting openings in 2017 has been the streetart-musum: Urban-Nation.
Pandas! It's now time to get better relations to China - so we got 2 Pandas last summer in our West-Berlin Zoo! Everybody's happy and quite excited!
Buddy-Bears returning to Berlin Talking about Bears: The wonderful UNICEF-Project of auctionable Buddy-Bears (the symbol of Berlin) returned to Berlin's Walter-Benjamin-Platz close by Kurfürstendamm after travelling around the world. Beautiful painted Buddy-Bears are shown, our favorite bear is the American Buddy Bear, it looks like Lady Liberty. It is inside one corner of the American Embassy (just across the street from the Holocaust Memorial! Here is a picture of a miniature Buddy-Bear exhibit from last summer:
Constructions and Reopenings The Grand Reopening of Staatsoper Unter den Linden took place on Oct. 3, 2017 and the start of the season is NOW! Grand opening of Airport BER in 2021 after everybody has been waiting for it since 2012? Construction roadmap as of 2017 Pierre-Boulez-Concerthall has opened, you can book attendances here. Outstanding architectural work by Frank Gehry for the famous jewish conductor and director of the Staatsoper Daniel Barenboim. The reconstruction of the Royal Palace in Berlin's historical center is considered to be finished in 2018 - at the moment we can see how good the development already is.
New spectacular TV-Shows about Berlin The second season of "Berlin-Station" produced by Epix is shown at Netflix with Ashley Judd as a main character. The german production "Babylon Berlin" which is a crime-story about Berlin in the roaring 20ies will be shown at Netflix.
Louis-Lewandowski-Festival 2017 A synagogal music-festival with Lewandowski's music takes place every year in Berlin and Potsdam, now for the 7th time. Program and locations to be found here (December 14-17, 2017)

July 2018 Fashion Week from July 3 - 7, 2018 Jewish Film Festival, exact date at the moment not available Not in Berlin, but may be of interest: The Soccer-Worldcup 2018 in Russia from June 14 - July 15, 2018. Hopefully our team can become again Champion after 2014!
August 2018 At the end of the month we expect the Dance-Festival "Tanz im August" - exact dates are not available at the moment.
September 2018 Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art from Sept. 6 - 9, 2018 Berlin Art-Week from Sept. 12 - 16, 2018 Marathon Sept. 16, 2018 Festival of Lights from Sept. 28 - Oct. 14, 2018

December 2018 Of course once again Berlin offers more than 60 christmas-markets - and Berlin's main streets will be illuminated in the most beautiful way. And of course also again the Louis-Lewandowski-Festival.
